FOR APPLICANTS IN PAKISTAN
Study abroad from Pakistan
Compare courses, plan the full cost and prepare an application that matches your qualifications. This guide brings together the decisions to make before paying a university deposit.
1. Find a course that fits your education
Start with your subject, qualification level and intended intake. A degree title alone does not establish admission eligibility: compare the university's required subjects, grades, qualification equivalence and any professional accreditation. Record your exact qualification title and awarding institution.
Search courses by subject, country and intake · Browse university course profiles
You can type a subject manually, such as urban and regional planning, construction project management or computer science. Suggestions are optional. Related courses can have different entry requirements.
2. Compare destinations and total costs
Build a shortlist using tuition for the correct academic year, course duration and living costs. Keep fees in the university's stated currency. If you budget in Pakistani rupees, record the exchange-rate date and leave room for currency changes.
Include application charges, English tests, document preparation, visa charges, insurance, travel and accommodation deposits. A first-year fee does not necessarily cover the whole degree. Ask the university for its refund conditions before paying.
3. Check scholarships for Pakistani applicants
Check nationality, residence, fee status, grades and intake restrictions separately. Note whether an award covers tuition, living costs or both, and whether it requires a separate application. A partial fee reduction is not a fully funded scholarship.
HEC's Learning Opportunities Abroad portal lists foreign-funded opportunities for Pakistani and AJK nationals. Its guidance refers to HAT for master's/PhD and USAT for bachelor's applicants; check the particular call and current test instructions before applying.

4. Prepare documents and English evidence
Prepare a passport, academic certificates, transcripts and the documents requested by the university. Names and dates should be consistent. Check whether translations, certified copies or attestation are required for your specific application. HEC provides an online process for degree attestation; do not assume every application needs the same documents.
Read the course's official English-language conditions for accepted tests, overall and component scores, validity and exemptions. An IELTS waiver from one university does not establish acceptance by another university or a visa authority.

5. Keep study and settlement decisions separate
University admission, permission to study, post-study work, permanent residence and citizenship are separate decisions. Do not treat a course or scholarship as a promise of settlement. Read the government conditions for the destination and route relevant to you.
